Eliseo Vila

Spain

Dr. Vila was born in Terrassa (Barcelona), Spain, on July 3, 1944, son of Samuel and Lidia Vila, founders of CLIE Publishing, of which he is currently President.

Economist, journalist, writer and theologian.

As a theologian, he has carried out and continues to carry out important interdenominational teaching work among pastors and theology students in the Americas, giving classes, lectures, and seminars at major theological institutions, ministerial associations, and churches throughout Latin America. He is widely known for his appearances on numerous radio and television programs. He is an active member of the Permanent Commission of the Federation of Evangelical Religious Entities of Spain. He has participated as a guest speaker at numerous interdenominational events.

As a journalist, he is the founder and editor of the magazines España Cristiana and Página Abierta. He contributes to numerous national and international media outlets. He is an active member of the Spanish Association of Press, Radio, and Television Reporters, the Spanish Federation of Tourism Journalists and Writers, APECTUR, and the International Press Club of Madrid.

As an economist, he holds a PhD in Economics, a Master's degree in Tax Law, and a diploma in International Agreements from the European Centre for Commercial Studies. He played a leading role in the Negotiating Committee for the Cooperation Agreements between the Spanish Government and FEREDE and currently serves on their Monitoring Committee. He is a member of the Spanish Association of Executives (AED) and President of the Foreign Trade Committee of the Business Confederation CECOT and of the Exporters' Club. He has given lectures at official bodies, parliamentary groups, and various universities in Latin America. He holds the honors of "distinguished visitor" from the Mariano Gálvez University in Guatemala (1999) and of distinguished guest and "absent professor" from the Postgraduate School of the National University of Trujillo, in Peru, (2002) which distinguished him, after a series of conferences on globalization, by awarding him the University medal, with a red distinction, for "his high scientific production and academic excellence."
