The specialization in Philosophy of Religion delves into both classic questions related to religion, such as the problem of evil, the conceptualization of faith and religious practices, and issues related to religious pluralism and intolerance. It focuses on questions such as: What is the relationship between philosophy and religion in Western culture and in other cultural contexts? How does modern and contemporary philosophy reflect on religion? What is meant by philosophical critique of religion? What theories of religion have been developed? What is religious experience? Key authors studied in this program include Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, Saint Augustine, Hegel, Kant, Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, Weber, Freud, Jacques Derrida, Richard Rorty, Susan Sontag, and Hélène Cixous, among others.
